I was raised in Unicoi, TN. My parents are Gretchen and Norman Miller. They took my brother (Russell), my sister (Jodi) and me to church at New Hope FWB every time the doors were opened.
That is where I was baptized by Pastor Bruce Fender when I was 12. When I was a teenager, I began to get further and further away from the Lord. Even though I was still going to church, I knew that I had gone too far. At a New Years Eve service at Pathway FWB when I was 18, I finally made my way to the altar and gave my heart to Jesus. Within a month I began singing in a quartet called the Seekers.
In December 1991 I met Crystal at Pathway. We dated until June 19th, 1993 when were married.
I had been running from the call to preach for two years and I finally stopped running from the Lord on October 19, 1994 and announced my calling to preach at Pathway during a revival which Leonard Sheehan was preaching.
The Lord blessed us with our first son, Christian Thomas Miller who was born on June 14, 1995. When Christian was four years old he was diagnosed with ADHD. As he grew older his diagnosis grew to include several other learning disabilities. Christian was nine years old when he was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, a high functioning form of Autism. Simple tasks that we take for granted everyday are sometimes challenging for him. With a lot of prayer and Gods guiding hand he progresses more everyday.
I began to pastor my first church, New Hope FWB, in the fall of 1995. It was a great growing experience for us.
I was ordained by the Jack's Creek FWB Association on March 30, 1996 at Unaka Springs FWB and since then I have had the privilege of serving on the Tennessee Investigating Committee and other Associational committees.
On November 13, 1997 we were blessed yet again when Ian Charles Miller was born into our family. When he was born, we had quite a scare. When Crystal was admitted to the hospital in labor, every time she would have a contraction, Ian's heart rate would drop. The doctor explained that the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck, cutting off his oxygen supply and that she might need an emergency c-section. We immediately called our church family to begin a prayer chain and had prayer in the hospital room. Fifteen minutes later Ian was born naturally and healthy with no health problems at all.
Both of our children are precious gifts from God with they're own unique personalities and special ways of touching our hearts.
In 1999 I began to pastor Fellowship FWB in Limestone, TN.
II Corinthians 8:14 says "But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:" My family came to Middle District in July 2006 at what I believe was a time that the church needed us and we definitely needed the church.
It is a pleasure and honor to pastor this great church.
